Day 5: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

Day two in Kandy.Wow!!! I always wake up before kids and started packing, ironing the cloths, and yes mostly I never miss to pack my little miss magic’s toys and snack. Its help me to comfort her and easy to handle her driving time.

We check out the hotel after breakfast.  Our first stop was a small waterfall located in front of the Ramboda tunnel. I dint no the name of the fall. I saw so many local people bathing in the water falls. I don’t think the people like us when we taking the picture on it during there bath time, I realized they feel shy. Anyway maybe they also know tourist visit that’s place too.

Nuwara Eliya is 77km drive from Kandy. The journey to Nuwara Eliya is a classic mountain climb with sharp bends twisting and turning as the reach ever higher. As the van rises relentlessly towards the summit there is a noticeable cooling of the temperature. While it is remains hot, there is a cool breeze now and at times when the sun hides behind a cloud you can actually feel a slight chill.

Blue Field Tea Factory
We stopped Blue field tea factory on the way to Nuwara Eliya for lunch. This is our second time we visit this place last time was our first Sri Lanka vacation in 2008. OMG!! Its bit different from Last time, the area was so crowded! Lots of Travelers’.  Restaurant also full. We ask the waiter about the Lunch buffet, He said it’s not ready yet, so we decided to take snack and tea. Our Smart driver went the counter and came back with a staff, the staff arranges us seating arrangements quickly, and I must say that is the best view of the restaurant, wow! I like it. Soon Huby and Santha came back to fresh snack and original tasty Tea. “hoooooooom!! Smell Of tea. Its really refresh Mind.

We reach the Cey Bank Hotel in the evening; Hotel welcome could not have been friendlier. We are greeted at reception which is not in the least bit busy. After check in formalities, we are shown to our room. Wow!! What a big clean room!! “I love it”. It is attractive from the outside and beautifully furnished inside. This is an amazing hotel. We all love this Hotel, but Niño ask room boy about the swimming pool. He said “No swimming pool” I guess in the context of the weather here compared to the heat everywhere else it make sense that a pool is not particular required however it is still very warm.

After the refreshment we went to the lake side. The Gregory Lake was built by the English Governor William Gregory during 1872 – 1877 on the river Nanu Oya. This picturesque lake is located in the southern area of the Nuwara Eliya town. It is one of the main tourist spots of the town. It covers about 91 hectares of land. There are several peaceful walking paths around the lake
