We stopped on the way for lunch , little home business style restaurant . The buffet is 300LKR per person, lots of variety of food.
We Reach Hotel Lake Side Tourist Inn, Tissamaharama in the afternoon. Our driver already booked a safari Jeep, the vehicles owner is waiting hotel gate. He is asking to choose the type of safari jeep , Ooops! They categorized the jeep by it condition I think. Finally I told them take highest rated comfort one for us. He said “6000 LKR Madam”
Yala National Park is the second largest and most visited national park in Sri Lanka. Yala is situated in the southeast region of the country, and lies in Southern Province and Uva Province. The park covers 979 square km (378 sq mi) and is about 300 km (190 mi) from Colombo. It had originally had been designated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1900, and, along with Wilpattu it was one of the first two national parks in Sri Lanka, having been designated in 1938.

After quick freshening up and came back to the hotel gate for safari tour. Ninno seem quit interesting. But I’m not in mood cox of the hotel room very dirty small room .our driver already tell us about the hotel and village style so we have to survive for our short stay .
Entrance Of the Yala National Park
Climbing into the Jeep seems to bring the excitement to us. The adventure has well and truly started. This is the first time any of us have been on any sort of safari and the excitement levels are high. I am not quite sure what I expect. I have in mind an African plain with animals running gracefully in the distance while we sit in a truck with binoculars marveling from a distance. Of course this is not Africa and we’re in Sri Lankan jungle environment rather than a plain but to everyone’s delight, the animal experience starts immediately and much closer at hand that we’d anticipated. We are glade we hired a luxury jeep, the roads are full of pot holes so there is a lot of bumping up and down.
Road
The Land Monitor
Suddenly the ranger stops the vehicle; The Land Monitor is in the way of the Jeep, waddling its way up the track in the same direction that we’re trying to go. As its legs carry it slowly forward, the tail moves aggressively from side to site directly opposite to the direction its head is moving. It’s not in hurry and frankly neither are we so we sit quietly, enthralled by this large lizard as it eventually turns off from the road and heads out into the jungle. Later we realized we miss the binoculars, to see the wild life in full glory.
Story about the Rabbit and the Bird
Crocodile Taking a Nap
Peacocks
Elephant
We spotted plenty of birds, peacocks and peahens, jungle fowls (the national animal of Sri Lanka), a male jumbo all by himself, and later two female elephants with a baby. There were also several huge monitor lizards, crocodiles, monkeys, several herds of spotted deer and a herd of sambar deer, wild boars, wild buffaloes, mongooses, and a rabbit.

Fellow animal Hunters, Catching the sunset
We saw and captured pictures of sunset at the beach. The safari lasted for about 3hrs and it was an amazing experience. The experience of "Nature Immersion" in Yala, and it really much better than I expected.

We enjoyed every moment; the best part of our holiday trip was this Yala safari. They gave us a wonderful insight to the nature of Sri Lanka. We came back another routing because of main entrance road is closed before 17:30. I was little bit scared cox of darkness of the narrow road. I can’t forget the time we cross inside the river OMG!! Its too dark can’t see any where only long trees shadows and it reflection on the river.

Darkness
We were back in the hotel by about 19:00hrs. Had Dinner in the hotel.
